Event Description

NCCIH is participating in a new funding opportunity with 10 other Institutes and Centers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The NIH Collaboratory program has issued its third RFA: NIH Health Care Systems Research Collaboratory - Demonstration Projects for Pragmatic Clinical Trials (UG3/UH3). NCCIH is hosting a webinar in which our scientific staff will present an overview of the research grant submission process, in-depth information on the funding opportunity announcement, and an explanation of what to expect in the peer review process. Webinar attendees will have the chance to ask questions in real time during the webinar and will have access to speaker presentations. Participation in this webinar is optional and is not required for submission of an application.

NCCIH is interested in applications that pose important health care research questions that can be addressed in real world settings. NCCIH encourages all investigators who conduct clinical research within health care systems, who are interested in NCCIH’s high-priority topics, and who have a research question that is ready to be tested in a pragmatic trial to consider applying for this new opportunity.

What topic areas are high priority for NCCIH’s pragmatic trials?

  • Symptom management, especially for chronic pain syndromes
  • Reduction of prescription drug (opioid) use or abuse in patients with chronic pain
  • Medication adherence
  • Post-traumatic stress (disorder)
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Sleep disorders or disturbances
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Promotion of psychological resilience
  • Weight loss and weight loss maintenance
  • Smoking cessation
  • Promotion of healthy eating and physical activity
