As natural products sales increase, the risk of adverse interactions with drugs increases, yet the pharmacokinetics and clinical relevance of putative interactions remain elusive. This center is developing a roadmap for natural product drug interaction research through a series of well-designed human in vitro and in vivo studies on four to six priority natural products that pose a potential risk for clinically relevant drug interactions. A repository will be developed for the data generated by the center, and results will be communicated to various target audiences through a public portal.
