echinacea

Echinacea fell in popularity, from being the top natural product used by U.S. children in 2007 to the fourth most popular natural product in 2012. Nearly 229,000 fewer children used echinacea in 2012 than in 2007.

People use echinacea as a dietary supplement for the common cold. However, it’s unclear if echinacea helps treat the common cold. Parents should be aware that many complementary health approaches have not been tested for safety or effectiveness in children.
