1.3% of U.S. adults (3.3 million) used
coenzyme Q10

About 574,000 more adults used CoQ10 in 2012 than in 2007.

Coenzyme Q10 is necessary for cells to function properly—cells use it to make the energy they need to grow and stay healthy. CoQ10 supplements may benefit some people with heart and blood vessel problems, but research on other conditions is not conclusive. CoQ10 supplements may make the blood-thinning drug warfarin less effective.
