The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH), National Institutes of Health, is a component of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). DHHS is a Federal agency of the United States Government and is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as tax-exempt under 26 U.S.C. 501 (c) (3).
Although NCCIH is a federally funded organization and not a fund-raising organization, it has been authorized by the U.S. Congress to accept donations and bequests to support the mission of the Center. All contributions to NCCIH are tax-deductible pursuant to 26 U.S.C. 170.
Donations to NCCIH are handled in the Center's “Gift Fund” account, which is separate from the appropriation received from Congress. Basic operating expenses and administrative costs are paid out of the Center's appropriation, therefore, all donations to NCCIH are used to promote or expand research in the area of complementary and integrative health.
In response to inquiries regarding how to make a donation to the NCCIH Gift Fund, a contribution can be made by sending a check or money order payable to the “National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health” addressed to:
Office of Financial Management

and Integrative Health

All donors are acknowledged in writing.
