Behaviors in the Teen Years That Are Risks to Health

Behaviors that are risks to health can emerge and/or increase in the teen years, such as substance use, depression, anxiety, violence, delinquency, school dropout, and unsafe sexual behavior. Recent research has focused on trying to find risk and protective factors in various domains that influence young people. The speaker highlights five domains and discusses risk factors. Protective factors also can cross domains. Prevention approaches can foster “whole person behavioral health.”
