We are excited to announce that NCCIH will hold a webinar on the topic of network pharmacology and natural products on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, and we invite you to join us. Its purpose is to discuss new technology that has the potential to elucidate how natural products impact biological networks. The Center is seeking input on focus areas to strengthen NCCIH’s natural products research portfolio.

Traditionally, natural products have been examined for their biological activity against specific biological targets. Researchers have known for some time, however, that many natural products interact with multiple biological targets. For example, compounds with a high selectivity for a single target may also interact with secondary biological targets. Most of these secondary interactions to date have not been examined closely for their impact in mammals. Modern technologies allow researchers to conduct systems-level research in ways that were never before possible.

This webinar, chaired by Guido Pauli, Pharm.D., Ph.D., Professor at the College of Pharmacy, University of Illinois at Chicago, will feature research presentations by several experts and a discussion of the best way to apply the tools and techniques of network pharmacology to the study of natural products.

We hope that you will be able to participate.
