Magdalena R. Naylor, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Naylor holds both an M.D. and a Ph.D. from Warsaw University, Poland, and completed her psychiatry residency at Duke University Medical Center, North Carolina, before receiving board certification in psychiatry and neurology in 1984. Prior to coming to NCCIH, Dr. Naylor served as professor of psychiatry and director of the Mind-Body Medicine Research Clinic and Clinical Neuroscience Research Unit at the University of Vermont College of Medicine.
Dr. Naylor is known internationally for her work on pain management and cognitive behavioral therapy. Her research was supported by NIH extramural grants (NIDA and NIAMS) for the past 17 years for both behavioral and neuroimaging studies. She is a well-respected invited lecturer and has received honors for excellence in teaching. In addition to her clinical, teaching, and scientific work, Dr. Naylor has served as a reviewer for numerous journals and participated on multiple advisory boards. She has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications, books, and chapters as well as more than 60 published abstracts and presentations for national and international scientific meetings.
